Bull Durham Building

Bull Durham Building in Durham, NC

Since 1874 this building has been one of the most important commercial sites in the city of Durham N C.  For many years it was the center of commerce for the tobacco industry in the region until it fell into disrepair after the Great Depression of the Thirties.  The elaborate classical cornice was completely removed, and the only remaining evidence was a painted profile on the brick wall of the adjacent building.

From these tracings and old photographs, South’s Finest reconstructed the replica of the original cornice system.  As you can see from the photographs of the reconstruction, elaborate returns were necessary to follow the shape of the building.  We were honored to be involved in saving this historic landmark. Please see their site (link below) for additional historical information of Old Bull and the Durham area.
